Giovanni's Restaurant on the west side. It's on Brazos at Guadelupe St. It's a little hole in the wall that looks very Mexican but is all Italian. The owner is from New York and is very Italian and makes everything fresh. It's a great surprise how great it is in the middle of the barrio.

OMG Your so right.. it's righ behind the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center little green place. One of my best friends from High School's Dad owned that place.... He (my friend Adam) looked like Shaggy from Scooby Doo . We would go there after school (Lanier) and have the greatest Pizza you will EVER taste.

The REBAR on Broadway and 410 great place to drink and socialize. Until I take the risk and open my Cigar Bar on the river!

Oh yes, I must agree. Also, Malt House Cafe, either location. Tejas Cafe on O'Connor. China Latina off Hot Wells somewhere--a friend from my old job used to take me there at lunchtime. (The fried rice magically becomes the Spanish rice if you order Mexican food, but it's always packed at lunch because the food is good and the price is right!)

Giovannis...does anyone know if this is the same as the Giovanni's Pizza that used to be located at North Star Mall? It was back in the early 80's when the food court was downstairs on the other side. The pizza was great, but not like the typical NY style that is in most malls. It was a lot more flavorful.

NOT the same as a mall. This is real and original New York Style. Afterall, he's from Brooklyn and knows how to do it right.
