What is your favorite SA or surrounding restaurant for chips and salsa in San Antonio? I thought there would be a post like this in the SA board but I do not find one.

Mine would have to be El Jalisco on Perrin Beitel and Chuys but I would love other suggestions.

EL MARACUMBE on Austin Highway has one I like, it is milder that what I usually prefer but has a very fresh taste, you almost want to drink it! They have the same sauce at EEHOS on Bradway.

I like the ranchero sauce at CHARRO on Harry Wurzbach also.

I like the chips just about anywhere, as long as they are fresh and not the thick, hard variety

Default Chacho's!

I say any Chacho's (Chaco's?). They have cheap guac, great salsa choices on the salsa bar, and great margarita!

Default Canyon Cafe in Alamo Ranch

Canyon Cafe in Alamo Ranch also has awesome chips. Their salsa is OK, but their chips are to die for. They bring a big basket with tortilla chips...and other stuff in it. They have fried won-tons with their fried tortillas in the chip basket....doesn't sound that good, but they're amazing. They also have sweet potato chips, and maybe one other mixed in. Really awesome!

Where else can you get a MEGA large basket of Chips and EXTRA guacamole to feed 2 to 3 people for about 2 bucks?

Nowhere else

Well...its not really salsa but I like Chuy's for their creamy jalapeno sauce. It is basically a jalapeno ranch dip but it is very good. They do not serve it with your chips by default though. You have to ask for it. They do not charge extra for it so the next time you go make sure you ask for some creamy jalapeno with your chips.

I used to like Karam's for traditional chips and hot sauce. Unfortunately they closed about a year ago. They were the best I've ever had. Hands down.

I love the chips at El Jarro, but not the sauce. (The sauce is too modern, like pico de gaillo almost)

I'm not sure of the name, but I think it's Casarita's, on the corner of Fredericksburg and Callaghan (near the power substation).
