there are some decent taco trucks around the city, but not remotely in the same league as those in LA or SD. I've been looking for real pastor here for years and have not found it. There are a few places that make an edible stove top version, but its not the same.

Really? I don't consider myself to have an iron gut AT ALL (shoot, my vitamins make me nauseus!) but I loves me a taco truck. My husband and I also eat the tortas made by the street vendors when we cross into Mexico.

Good stuff - you don't know what you're missing!

Afraid to admit this, but the first time my son and I heard the truck coming, we started chasing the "ice cream" truck, only to find out it was a taco truck.

There is a taco truck (roach coach) that goes to Kelly USA (or whatever it is called now) and the lady is from Puerto Vallarta and speaks no english. The guys say the the tacos are very authentic.

I have to agree with FCF, I have a hard time eating from one of those trucks. The lemonade with slushy ice is good though

Please. You can get food poisoning from a brick-and-mortar restaurant, too. (Although I agree that it would absolutely put me off that restaurant!)

Anyone know how the tacos compare in SA to the ones you can get in Brownsville? Thinking specifically of "Antojitos Yolis" chain in Brownsville. I used to devour 8 of those little things and topped it off with a Red Jarritos soda. That was back in the day when I could eat that stuff....

Los Robertos. Case closed.

Los Robertos (AKA Mexican food Baja-style)

Although to the OP, this is probably not the closest suggestion to your end of town...
