Give Florio's in Alamo Heights a try. Better than Goomba's - although Goomba's is good, too.

Papa John's tastes a lot like authentic NY style pizza to me. Same cheese, sauce, spices. The only difference is the crust is a little thicker, which I don't mind at all.

Umm, have you been to Greenwich Village? <== sorry, I'm not usually that rude.

I don't like Papa John's though, plus I'm a local restaurant snob.

No problem. I'm sure it's a lot better in Greenwich Village. Unfortunately I can only dream.

But the best NY-style pizza San Antonio ever had has been closed for over 20 years. It was called NY Pizza, with locations at Central Park Mall and downtown. They shipped most of their ingredients from somewhere in or around NY. I can still remember what it tasted like.

The secret to good Papa John's pizza (or any takeout) is to pick it up yourself rather than have it delivered. There is a huge difference in taste when it's fresh.

Unfortunately most San Antonians don't know what good pizza is, which is why San Antonio's favorite pizza place is none other than Pizza Hut.

The best pizza in SA is definitely Dough's. Goombas on Blanco is good stuff too. Don't forget about the wings and ice cold Shiner on draft!

Can not believe Miss Ellies Pizza at Bitters and 281 is not mentioned. I've been to all of the ones listed, it is head and shoulders above those. (Born and raised on Long Island NY, I know what I speak of)

Betcha if they polled the people in NYC what their favorite Mexican Food was, they'd say Taco Bell

Agreed about the pizza, though. I like all pizza...so don't matter to me! Oh i had Goomba's the other day....not bad...waiting time was terrible, though.
