Grand Opening is today - opened at 6 am. I can't find very much info on it like the Alon Grand Opening, but if you search for stores on the HEB site, it is listed - and then if you view the ad for that store it mentions Grand Opening deals.

This HEB Plus is opening today. It will be the largest HEB store in Texas. (The company has larger stores in Mexico.)

I'm surprised they haven't announced more online about this opening Moderator cut: orphaned reference

I am not looking forward to this. I need to go get just a few fruits and veggies as well as cake mixes. I think I'll hit Super Target instead! It will be a zoo

I just got back from the HEB Grand Opening. It is an enormous and fabulous (IMO) store. We found a parking place without any trouble. There were a lot of people there, but it wasn't a zoo at all. They had some great deals, too.

I went this morning and it was very very busy, but lines were short to check out. If you want it, they probably have it. I have never seen a store like that in my life. If you are worried about grocery shopping, the grocery part of the store makes an L shape, as you walk in the left side of the store is the start of the groceries with all the amazing meat, sushi, bakery...extras, and then as you curve along the back wall, you find the rest of the groceries. I have to admit it, I wasn't looking forward to this, but I really like it. There are some great selections in there food wise!

Has the store across 281 closed yet, or will there be some overlap?

The store across 281 is closed. And just an FYI the McDonalds there is being remodeled and only the drive through is open.

The hours for the new HEB plus are everyday from 6am-1:00am.

On the negative side, the new traffic light at Evans and the HEB entry (Wind something or other) takes an eternity (POV:driving on Evans). It is almost as bad as the light at Evans and 281 itself!
