ok thanks..thing is.im from out of state so I wouldn't know what areas are safe...some allege to be safe..as is the case in phoenix and theyre really not..

That's why I suggested you go look at local crime reports. That will tell you.

Weird about Barstow's crime rate (more than twice as high as national rate - Victorville is too, by the way). It seems such a sleepy place every time I go through. I always suspected it was a peaceful place. Any insight to why there is so much crime in such a little town.

Murrieta is the 2nd safest city in the *COUNTRY* so if you're concerned about safety that's where I would look.
