I read that Mission Trails Regional Park has recently opened a new segment south of Poway called West Sycamore. Has anyone hiked any trails there?

I've hiked there. Are these new trails or the govt isn't chasing people out now, cause part of that was on govt land.

We just drove to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park for the first time on Saturday and hiked the 3 mile Palm Canyon trail. Not super strenuous, but a lot longer than it seems and very fun and beautiful. The 'Palm Oasis' at the end was a great destination and the 7 bighorn sheep meandering around us was a huge bonus! It's a drive, but WELL worth it and a must hike trail for all SD area hikers. Next time we'll do the 6-7 mile Hellhole Canyon trail (more rock climbing than the other one) and try to spend more time there to enjoy Borrego Springs more.

HERE'S THE MAP. It shows that some of the trails go into MCAS Miramar, where they threaten to prosecute your ass.

Thanks for the link. Been wondering where that new section of the park was located. Am also curious to know if anyone here has been there yet.

The Palm Canyon trail is a nice little hike. How were the wildflowers? Are they even blooming yet?

Nope, not yet, but I'm meaning to. Maybe after work next week, after the time change.
