It's like the desert. It's warm during the day, gets cold at night. It's 47 at 3AM but it's 70 at 3PM.

It cracks me up when I meet people who are surprised to learn that overnight lows in the 40's are the norm for San Diego during winter (it gets even colder inland). I never realized that so many people think that temps stay in the 60's and 70's year round.

I use our woodburning fireplace every winter and love it!

40s are late night and early morning temperatures which are normal for dead of winter here, yep. Then the temps climb into the 60s or low 70s, and throw in a few Santa Anas, and it's great compared to the rest of the country, if by 'great' we mean no snow, ice, hail, tornadoes, raging thunderstorms, high rag weed... Then again, it can, for some, get monotonous.

Summer is more moderate. Along the coast: Lows upper 60s to lower 70s, highs mid 70s to upper 70s.

OK I've been following the weather/temperature for some time.. it's now three months since I wrote my post and is it just me but it doesn't seem very warm.. for June?

It's currently 3pm and 66degrees according to Yahoo Weather and as a comparison in Sydney it's not THAT much colder and it's Winter there.

Meanwhile in NYC it's 91degrees?

I'm not sure what's going on... is this normal every year?

June is basically considered "June-Gloom" month but I've been following the weather there and it doesn't seem to be following the normal weather pattern this year. Don't worry it will get very hot soon enough! Enjoy those cooler temps as they will be short lived. I lived my whole life in CA and one thing I know it will get hot!! I now live in NC and it's unusually hot here---sorry guys--guess I brought that heat with me!! Or you might want to thank me!!!
