Is there a right to Free Speech and Lawful Assembly or Not?

Still remember my friend getting expelled a couple weeks before school was out in second grade...

A third grader kept badgering him by calling names and insulting his family calling them wetbacks...

Stanley told him to stop which was answered what are you going to do about it?

Stanley popped the guy in the mouth and knocked out a tooth.. blood was everywhere and Stanley never returned...

Just because something is offensive is not license for bodily injury and never will be.

I'm a very much live and let live person... but sending someone to the emergency room crosses the line.

I certainly hope ALL those responsible are fully prosecuted...

By the reasoning of some every cop ever verbally insulted would have license to retaliate and we know how that goes...

Agreed .

Suppression of free speech does not work. In fact, there was a very important document drawn up , a couple of hundred odd years ago that very clearly protects the right to freely express opinions and viewpoints.

Have we somehow decided to override the constitution in becoming the un appointed judges and arbiters of free speech as the protesters so decreed at this rally in California.

Listen, if you don't like what they have to say, then debate with them or find a forum to engage in peaceful debate.

To those still harboring some doubts on non violent debate, give it a chance, what do you have to fear

Saying you should be allowed to saying anything under the free speech is like saying you should be able to buy grenades under the second amendment.

The people who assaulted them should face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, but I have zero sympathy for people who engage in hate speech. Just like I don't feel sorry for morons who post vile things on Twitter or the internet and get fired by their employer when they get caught. You are free to say whatever you want, but that doesn't mean you won't face consequences later for what you said. People tend to want to ignore that second part of the equation, but that's not how a progressive society works.

Those of you defending the neo-nazis should really find something else to rail against. They had it coming.
I will gladly send you a pack of earplugs so you can tune it out.
I'm all for consequences for saying stupid stuff, but usually the consequences don't send you to the hospital.

A lot of my friends on Facebook post about political views I disagree with. You know what I do? I keep scrolling or just log out. I've only ever defriended a person for verbally attacking my character in response to political disagreement.

So what is the nazi's political statement? Let's burn 7 million jews?

I think we need to address the issue whether a hate speech is a free speech. I think not.

Government oppression is a free speech.

Again, you can argue against the government. Saying a certain RACE is a SECOND to another RACE is not a freedom of expression. It's hate speech.
