Often for renting an apartment you get a good deal when you move in for first year. But then after 2-3 years most people move again due to yearly rent increase. It is not common to go as high as 10%, sometimes up to 20%.

A lot of homes/apartments on the Pennisula are of older kind, many buildings in Mountain View built in 1960's lack 3-prong electric outlets. If you care about your electronics, you do not wanna connect ones that require ground to 2 prong.
