Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I am curious to know how many of you think the San Francisco metro area has the best overall weather and climate? I am one of those that says that SF Bay area has the best weather in the country. Why? Because it never gets so cold that you have to worry about freezing to death and it also does not have the heat + smog of Los Angeles. In fact 90 degree days are pretty rare in SF aren't they? I have visited two times both in the spring and it was great weather!! I just checked the current forecast for SF now and IMO, clouds, cool weather + high humidity is about as lovely as it gets. 55F and 78% humidity would be great for my sinuses because my allergies wouldn't be aggravated. Anyhow, how many of you think SF weather can't be beat?

Bay are has great weather but SF is more foggy and cold compared to South bay, easy bay or peninsula. San Jose/Silicon valley area has the best weather. FYI, the last fully sunny day in SF was Dec 24th. Since then the city had maybe couple of hours of bright sun. I heard that it is even less sunny in summer at least in my part of town.

There many microclimates in the Bay Area. I tend to prefer the East Bay, more sunshine and it is warmer. When it gets too hot I could head for the coast or up to the Sierras for cooler weather. It also gets a lot colder than San Francisco, so you can't have everything. The great thing about the Bay Area is that you can usually drive to the weather of your choice.

I live in Atlanta now and when it is hot and humid, I could drive for hours and it will still be hot and humid.

Autumn is our best season normally, but this year we had an El Nino cycle, so it was like hot - hot - hot - hot - COLD!!! and it has stayed that way since I think late September...

I think the peninsula has the best weather in the Bay area overall, not as cold as SF in summer or the inland cities in winter and not as hot as the inland cities in summer.

Coastal Southern CA has the best weather in the US overall, more mild than the Bay Area as it's warmer in winter and not any hotter in summer. The past two weeks have been very nice with most days being sunny and 70+ since New Years. After that I give the Bay Area 2nd best overall, although I do like they get more rain in the Bay Area but not too much overall.

Also the coastal areas of LA are not hot and smoggy like the inland areas, 90 degree days are pretty rare there too. But if you like cooler weather in the 50's and 60's the majority of the time, SF is the best place for that imo.

I definitely think the Bay Area has the best weather in the country and world.

Especially in summer.

the best weather in the country and world.
> World meaning US? or do you think mild Mediterranean climate is unique to CA?

That is so true. We were up there in August, spent a few days in Healdsburg in the upper 90s, then a couple of days in the city and it was like 50 at night, damp and windy- it was great! (I'm from San Diego now- grew up in Northern California foothills and miss weather!) I know this is common because the heat of the hills sucks in the fog in the afternoon.

I love S.F and I think San Diego is typically too dry but San Diego weather in a El Nino year (20"+ inches of rain) is the best. I am anxiously awaiting the storms of next week and pray we get slammed. Coastal San Diego summers are deliciously cool, winters very mild-much better than most of CA.
