Which is better? Verizon is not an option because we want to use our cell phones in other countries.

Everyone is our family uses AT&T and we don't have problems. We get good reception out in Myakka, and at the beaches when it seems others have issues. They have always been great for customer service also

I've had T-mobile for a number of years and the service is fine, except for one dead spot on Longboat Key just north of the Publix store. But my brother's Verizon cell phone didn't work in that spot either, so I'm blaming lack of cell towers vs phone service.

Our Verizon works out of the country also.

Might have to do with the phone you have and sim card capabilities or lack of ?

Check the rates and plans for both and compare them to see which meets your needs better.

I've got T-Mobile and the coverage is spotty but they've been so good to us over the years (17) that I cannot bring myself to change carriers.

T-mobile coverage has been spotty for me and unfortunately, it is terrible where I live on Siesta. I have a LG G2x phone.
The coverage is good at the beach and in the village, so if you only visit, you'd be OK,
For some reason, it is terrible / unreliable all up and down midnight pass. I live near St. Michaels Catholic Church, and I regularly bounce between no service and 1 bar. Which if you think about it, is worse than no bars. You get the call, answer it, and it drops. Or when you want to make a call, you wander around hoping to get an extra bar.

I'm going to try getting a pre-paid ATT card as a trial with my existing phone. Otherwise it's off to big red.
