Oh, wow... I suck badly at math. If I was to do it that way, it would take forever. It got to point I just went ahead and brought my calculator with me... in the restaurant; believe me, people were embarrassed to be seen with me. Luckily now, phones come with calculators within-- so I can be discrete about it.

Anyway, in response to your question: After sales tax is added. Because technically, the waiters are supposed to report their tips for tax purposes. That's why I also do it with cash, so that if I give more... it... would help them? My husband works in the restaurant business, you wouldn't believe some of the things the restaurant owners/managers do.
