Anyone know what job prospects are like for a certified special ed teacher (highly qualified in a few subjects) with a Masters in the Seattle and outlying areas? Have WA license and a few years experience.
I have started applying to districts and am attending a teacher fair soon.

here in the Lake Washington District (Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish) they always seem to need 2-3, as they tend to burn out in 5 years or so and go back to regular classrooms, while the number of kids on an IEP increases. Even now they have an opening for a .4 FTE position. There are also a lot of kids in the Issaquah and Northshore Districts.

Just as an update for sped jobs in Puget Sound region...I had more interviews then I could handle and was hired fairly quickly. Positions also usually included hiring incentives. Seattle is a good market for sped teachers.

Congratulations! Now just bring some of that good Gulf Coast food with you. I had some of the best food ever in Ocean Springs and Hattiesburg.
