It just took me 25 minutes to go 4 miles from my house to Panera. This city cannot handle all the traffic at the exit 17 interchange going onto the single laned Front Street. I sat through 4 lights down there it is a nightmare anymore to go anywhere unless it is after hours. Has anyone heard if they plan on doing anything about all this traffic. With those new apartment highrises going in on Gilman things are only going to get worse. It is so sad to see it getting so congested out here!

I have sympathy for you, but you should really try the Mill Creek-Bothell-Kirkland corridor during commuting times. This morning - very typical morning - it took me 45 minutes to go 8 miles down Bothell-Everett Hwy and some major arterials to get to Lake Forest Park, and it regularly takes me 45 minutes to get to my office in Woodinville from Mill Creek, which is less than 7 miles. Last week I had to be in Totem Lake for an 8:30 meeting and it took me ONE HOUR to go those 9 miles.

It's been that way a while now, when I drive to work (rarely) I hit there at about 3:30 and it's just starting. I usually make the first light. It will only get worse, I'm afraid. When we moved here in 1993 there was no problems with traffic except for the "S" curves on 405, and that was soon after straightened out some and
got better until the traffic caught up with it.

I successfully avoid it most of the time by simply going a different way.

Lots of people moved into these areas because they were attracted by the schools or proximity to commute corridors. The 'burbs have had bad traffic for decades now and it isn't going to get a whole lot better with the population expecting to double in the next few decades. It'll be more of the same unless people get out of their cars (unlikely) or vote to tax themselves to expand road capacity (even more unlikely!)

There isn't a whole lot that they can do in that area about traffic, unfortunately. It would probably be faster for you to go to a different sandwich shop.

Issaquah, like pretty much every Seattle suburb, has narrow roads...2 lanes most in each direction. The metro area is growing in population so it's no surprise that traffic is getting worse. But frankly I don't think it's that bad at all in Issaquah. I live in the Highlands and getting to Panera/Target or Costco doesn't super long.

There's a new road they constructed that runs from the side of the post office on Gilman to the Brown Bear car wash. That's how I avoid all the traffic when getting across town. In between that road, you also have easy access to the Fred Meyer plaza.

That's really all there is to avoiding the "out of control" traffic. I don't see what the big deal is.
