UberXL is that mean an SUV ? I am hoping to find an SUV for 4 people and 6 pieces luggage from Seatac to Pier 91. Does Uber usually surge on cruise days? (Sept 8 my day)

I think that it can be an SUV or a van, typically.

Not sure what you mean by "surge?"

I took a Lyft to and from Pier 91 recently.

I drive for uber in seattle. Still not cleared with lyft yet but soon.

Generally lyft treats its drivers better as a whole and pays better, but there are still some people who don't like their practices. Corporate gonna corporate.

Uber drivers are more plentiful and I think they're slightly cheaper.

Just a couple tips to not get cancelled on, make sure your pin location is accurate and be ready to go by the time we arrive.

I much prefer Lyft over Uber and I use them quite frequently for business travel when I don't feel like driving. The cars are newer and cleaner, the drivers seem to be more courteous and professional. I always give generous tips to my Lyft driver. Uber can be hit or miss.

Lyft and Uber have the same cars. This is because Lyft drivers are also Uber drivers. They both have the same requirements.

The above is a learning point for many of us here.

Not really. It is fairly typical for the drivers to drive for both companies, but a number of them say themselves that they prefer being Lyft drivers over Uber drivers. They may have the same requirements, but as I've already stated, I can always count on my Lyft drivers and Uber can be hit or miss on various points.

The reason I say that this is a learning point for many of us on here is that it's one for me. I drive myself and my wife and anyone else anywhere and everywhere I go. Totally. It is really rare for me to take a cab (one time in my life - in Rolla, MO, when I broke my arm and couldn't drive my 5-speed '01 Kia Sportage 4X4 and needed a lift to the hospital there). I can not remember ever needing a cab at any other time, though it may have happened. Though my memory sometimes does not serve me.

As for Uber vs. Lyft? It's all Greek ta me.

Obviously nobody can fight every battle, doesn't mean therefore one should choose to fight none at all.

Personally, based on my values, I take more issues with Uber's corporate culture than Amazon's, I think it's the escort bar visits that did it for me. Doesn't make Amazon a great company to work for.

Uber vs Lyft is really not a good argument. Both attract the same type of driver. Usually, an upstanding person with a good driving record, a relatively good car, and is rated highly by former passengers. And, yes, some drive for both. And Uber added a "tip" option on the app a month or so ago. But in the end your experience is just that. Likely to be good, hopefully excellent.
