I am from the south but my entire life has been covered in Thoroughbreds on and off track . I am the one that picked Louisville, Ky. It truly is the best place for me on this list even though I love SoCal very much and dearest NOLA. I like Astoria ALOT but have no clue how those people make any kind of a living .

Looking at this list makes me appreciate living in the Puget Sound area even more. Most of these cities would be uncomfortable for me in terms of weather, politics, or lack of urban amenities. I'll just stay here if these are my choices.

Geography and climate would be a deterrent for most of them, and the few I would consider cannot offer even a small sliver of the types of job opportunities that Seattle offers in my field. So I would also have to select 'none of the above'.

Actually Palm Springs is right on target. PS is made up of many Seattleites and other Western Washingtonians, mostly retired. Out of State plates in PS are mainly WA plates! While Yakima/Tri-Cities may be "The Palm Springs of the North", (haha), then perhaps Palm Springs is the "Seattle of the South".

Cities on your list I would have left Seattle for:

Minneapolis/St. Paul (same thing)
Raleigh, North Carolina
Philadelphia

As someone else said, I already "voted with my feet" and bailed in favor of a city not on your list.

And if you were limited to 30, you should have consolidated some items. Minneapolis and St. Paul are the same thing, as is Raleigh and Durham, for example. Unlike some of the others, I actually do see a pattern to your list. With the exception of Atlanta and Minneapolis, you have selected small-to-mid markets with either older populations or college towns.

Any place is good and quite pleasant with me as long as it does not have 2pm to 7-800pm traffic jams.

Like many others, I'm not so much interested in any of these places. I might move to Madison, but I wouldn't do it to leave Seattle; I'd do it if there was a great job opportunity there. In fact, I might move to another place easily, but only if there was a reason to move. I wouldn't move to any of those places "just to move." And most of those places I really have no desire to move to anyway.

I want to say none but if someone asked me at gun point I'd say Minneapolis, used to live there and liked it well enough but winters are brutal for sure.

The Woodlands is simply a master planned community/suburb of Houston.

Traffic Jams in Seattle have become an all day thing. I would like to say that traffic in Seattle goes from 2pm to 7pm but it seems even worse than that. It's pretty much reached a point where it's non-stop traffic in Seattle. It just never seems to end.
