I've never been a soccer fan. I didn't grow up watching it or playing it, so the success of the Sounders isn't going to impact me too much. I wouldn't say I hate it, just not interested. I'm mostly a baseball fan( and if that depended on the mariners winning, I would've given up a long time ago) and something of a football fan. I was a Sonics fan, now that's a fun sport to watch.

LOL

Maybe you should study economics a bit more and watch dullsville a lot less!

It was pointed out the other day that nearly half of the employed people in one European country are employed in the making and selling of olives and figs.

The Sounders’ .411 win percentage this year was distantly behind that of the lowly Mariners.

If you want to call that your “champion” then you deserve to be alone.

Nobody cares about winning percentages in this sport. There are points for a reason. Don't worry, I wasn't alone at the parade last year. Not even close! But you are so clueless, I shouldn't even waste my time with people like you.

Toronto this year had the most successful regular season in MLS ever and their winning percentage was only .588. The second winningest teams New York City (tied with Chicago Fire and Columbus) were below .500 at .471. Winning percentage means nothing in soccer because there are a lot of ties especially in a very competitive league where most teams are equal. This is why the point system is used.

Why don’t you cut to the chase?

It’s crappy entertainment to the civilized world.

Soccer is a make-do situation when all you can find or afford is a ball of twine and/or tape.

If soccer were worth watching, the NASL wouldn’t have died out.

The grandest entertainment in soccer, for fans, is trying to get out of the stadium without being killed.

Too bad the mass killings in soccer aren’t limited to 3rd-world countries.

Mondo, it's pretty much the only sport all my lifelong, well bred, prosperous friends in the "uncivilized" outposts of England, France, Germany, Spain and Holland talk about. You crack me up, man.

If you don't care, why are you even in this thread hater? You have obviously never been outside of the US.

Soccer rocks! I grew up watching it. Thank goodness there are other fans at work I can talk to about this fine game.

I was very pleased and not a little proud that our Seattle Sounders made it to the Western Conference Championship after winning it all last year. Portland couldn't even make it back to the playoffs after they won. I just wish the Sounders team could be a little healthier for the final run.

The U.S. has 24.5 million youths playing soccer, trailing only China. We top many long time World Cup powers. Among people aged 12 to 17, it is now more popular than the MLB; only basketball is more popular. It doesn't matter what the nay-sayers think; soccer is going to be the sport of the future in the U.S. The Soccer Academy systems are making college soccer teams much more competitive, and these days the University-level games can be quite entertaining and skillfully played.

Perhaps the money for soccer players in the USA is a reason it doesn't get as popular?
As a youth, soccer is fun and a great intro into team sports.
As you grow, you start realizing the baseball, football, and basketball players are the ones on SportsCenter all the time and the ones signing contracts for 8-9 figures.
At that point, the 'I need a new pair of soccer cleats' turns into 'can I have a pair of Air Jordans'?
