I read an article that safeway and burgermaster will close and be torn down soon. Burgermasters last day is December 5th,2022.

Why does the city need more overpriced apartments??

The u village area is congested enough.

More customers for QFC.

We'll see what happens to apt. prices as the anti-trust class-action suit proceeds. But U Village is a good location for apartments.

Have you made any decisions re: continuing to rent, but moving to cheaper rent vs. buying a condo?

Not sure where the OP saw it, but yes, Burgermaster at this location is done.

We need more apartments in the city precisely to drive down (future) price increases. Think it through rationally: if we added 100,000 apartment units to the city overnight, what would happen to demand? It would crater, taking prices with it. Now obviously no one wants that, but we need to be adding tens of thousands of units every year to keep up with population growth, stabilize the price of existing housing, and continue to provide shelter for folks who are low income. It's much better to add these units in existing urban villages and nodes (like U Village) rather than... where else would you put them? If you have better suggestions, I'd imagine we are all ears.

Also: what causes congestion at places like U Village is folks who live in single-family neighborhoods surrounding those areas. Growth of urban villages likely has a minimal or potentially even negative effect on total single-occupancy vehicle modeshare.

I think I remember eating there once, is that the one that has actual sit-down tables? We normally go to the one in Bellevue, with the car hops, and you have to eat in the car or take home.

As a NE Seattle native, Burgermaster was always a treat. Great shakes and very good burgers. I also enjoyed Kidd Valley. I am not sure how long these stand alones can last. Grab them before they disappear.
