In the beginning of 2012 there was a lot of talk and news about 12/23/2012. Lately I haven't seen much at all. Has the presidential election become our one worry. If many of he predictions for 12/23 come true the outcome of the election will be meaningless.

Is everyone prepared? Or is it than no one cares anymore? Or was it all a hoax?

If it really were the "end of the world," what would be the point of preparing for it? If it ends, it ends. If not, it's just another day like any other day. I prepare first for sufficiency, second for hard times, third for more serious unrest. But I don't prepare for end of the world scenarios. Methinks that's a bit out of my league.

Of COURSE it was a hoax. It was all based on the Mayan calendar.

First of all, if the Mayans could predict the future, why didn't they see that drought and other factors would destroy half of their civilization in the 9th century. Why didn't they know that Cortez was going to come for the Aztecs and them as well?

Secondly, the calender doesn't actually predict the end of the world.

It is 12/21/12 actually. The Mayans were pretty sharp though. I have heard there will "change" and not necessarily an "end". The bigger concern has to do with the possibility of a major weather catastrophe or economic crash. You should always prepare for the worst and hope for the best in order to be ahead of the game.

Which could happen any time and is not dependent on black magic.

I dunno about a hoax, but I am 100% serious when I say I will give anyone $100 cash today for their home and vehicle on the condition that I take possession of both on 12/24/2012. If you truly believe in this prophecy, you have absolutely nothing to lose and $100 to gain! How about it? Any takers?

It's difficult to imagine more depressing evidence for the bankruptcy of our educational system than the fact that some people could possibly take this hocus pocus Mayan buiness seriously. Even though this is an anonymous forum, it's amazing that people can come here and post such nonsense without apparent embarrassment. It seems that no matter how many doomsday dates come and go, with followers selling their homes and withdrawing their kids from school, there are still some idiots suseptible to the concept. Sure, it's possible that there could be a nuclear holocaust, but no one knows the date. If I may quote the late poet Charles Bukowski, "Humanity, you sick mother-******".

Still Concerned?

This would indicate there was concern at some point in time that is or isn't there now...

Honestly, I've never met anyone who has been even remotely concerned about this. However, if YOU are, I'll top Annuvin's offer and give $500!

If you believe in the 12/23/12 then you are the person we need to be prepared for. Seriously......

It's just another day.

I'm more worried about what might happen after this election than some ancient Indian folk tales.
