Every item I've ordered (so far) has been eligible for free shipping. I always look for that option, which says "8-10 days," but which NEVER takes that long. It's usually about 3-4 days.

Of all the things I've ordered from Amazon, I can't think of ONE which I had to have in 2 days.
Yeah, but you have to order $25 worth of eligible items to get that free 8-10 day shipping. I don't always want to order $25 worth of items when I need something from Amazon.

And yes, there have been many times when I needed an item in 2-3 days, and couldn't wait almost 2 weeks. Such as when I was in school and needed a book by the next class, or my SO forgets to tell me we're low on dog food.

You can't see the need for these things in advance? It's on you...

A lot of the complainers in this thread sound like the type of people who answer questions on Amazon products with "We don't know, we bought it as a gift."
or
They are the ones who give an item a poor review because the 3rd PARTY SELLER was awful.
or
They didn't read the description/instructions properly and then blame Amazon or the item for their oversight.

If people would actually read and confirm all the info on the page prior to pressing 'confirm order' they would have fewer problems. Amazon basically gave me a pair of shoes for free because they screwed up a small detail with my return. I ordered two different sizes of the same shoe, which had a price difference, they accidentally refunded the wrong size before I could alert them of the mistake. Since they couldn't undo the refund, they just didn't charge me at all. I have very few complaints about their service.

Umm... Okay? Did your attempt at insulting me make you feel better? It's great that somehow you have always known what you will need weeks in advance, but that's not how the real world works. Sometimes things come up last minute, and instead of driving to a bunch of different stores to find what I need, it's nice to be able to order off Amazon and have it arrive in 1-2 days.

So what's your beef with Amazon then?

I don't have any "beef" with Amazon. It seems like you have quoted the wrong post.

Reading through these posts, this situation can be summarized as human error. The husband clumsily selected Amazon Prime and now is upset that he is charged for it. It happens. Amazon has good customer service and is pretty good at helping you resolve your own mistakes (as long as you don't abuse it).

He wasn’t complaining about Amazon in that post. He was speaking to a poster who said she didn’t see any reason for prime. He was explaining that to him prime is worth it because otherwise to get free shipping you have to spend $25.

Be that the case or not, it's still nice to solve it with free 2-day shipping. There have been a few times that something got broke and I needed a replacement quickly.
