I only write checks at Costco. I don't do business with AMEX, nor do I use debit cards. I always have a few hundred in cash on me, but I (actually my wife!) always seem to get carried away at Costco and exceed what's in my pocket.

I don't think I'm holding anybody up though....all you have to do sign the check and their machine does the rest.

W write one check every other month, only because our water company doesn't offer online bill paying. Everything else is online or debit card. I can't remember when I last saw someone at the grocery store or even Costco writing a check. Most people don't even see a paycheck any more, ours are direct deposit and split between a bank and two credit unions, savings and checking accounts.

The only check that I've written in years is to pay for a Passport renewal.
