Hmm. I was pretty sure the articles said TM shocked its California based HQ and that many were concerned about a culture shock moving from Cali to Texas. Oh well.
I doubt GE would consider an HQ in any 3 of our main metros. They'd likely pick the Atlanta area.
But, once again, you run into politics. Our state is in the process of cutting budgets, and the people elect "small government" folks. That's fine...this isn't a political discussion. So, our resources are limited. Would it be wise to spend a ton of money organizing a recruiting campaign...for something we have no shot at anyway? No. Especially if sources say we don't have a shot anyway.
Charlotte was #2 for Toyota. A distant 2. They were going to Texas all along.
While GE's main headquarters isn't in state, its engineering headquarters actually is in Greenville; right at the Garlington rd. site where gas turbines are produced.
Says that between March and April 900 people left the work force and 200 people lost employment, between those numbers there are 1.1k fewer unemployed people which dropped the unemployment % to 4.2
The numbers seem a bit wonky though since it says below that that there are more people in Non-farm employment than there are in the work force my guess is that it's either people that don't live in the metro or people with multiple jobs.

That's weird, seems like the unemployment rate would be higher instead of lower in this case. I can't think of any big job losses in Greenville in the last month. Maybe it happened in Laurens since these are msa numbers. I can't feel it. The real estate market is hopping right along.

Yeah, I've seen that GE building. Wasn't sure what it was.

Maybe Greenville PD put a lot of hookers out of business haha!? That would be good job-loss
Columbia's "employment" numbers took a big hit when all those football players left USC for the NFL
