Why are American Football and Baseball not popular outside the US*? (NASCAR, MLB)

it just doesn't seem fair that always, when a thread gets created to take a dump on football that soccer hooligans are left trying to defend their sport.
Ah so what youre saying is its different just because therye American ? Most of the Hooligans I met/dealt with where not there for the match, it had nothing really to do with teams these days. Just scrouts.
You know, I think all this comparison of sports is a stupid, lame *ick-wagging contest between really insecure guys with balls the size of English peas. And the guys who want to slam other sports as being not nearly as masculine as their own favorite sports likely are wrestling with their own deep-seated homosexuality. I mean, seriously. Who really CARES if people in Botswana or Tunisia don't like baseball or American football? And what is it with people in Europe who constantly whine about Americans not liking soccer or Australians complaining about how rugby hasn't caught fire in the States? Why in God's name does it matter to you? I mean, you guys are like needy girlfriends wondering why the heck they aren't called by the men in their lives every three hours.
Look, here's the deal. Sports are nothing more than a reflection of culture. If you like a sport, you like the sport. We could sit here and compare intangibles all night long and no one would prove anything to anyone. Why? Because no sport is really demonstrably better than the others in any way except the preference of its fans. Personally, I'm not wild about soccer at all, preferring football and baseball, even though my son has played soccer for fourteen years now. But if somebody likes soccer, I'm totally cool with that. I'll watch a game.
Rugby and Australian Rules Football? Awfully cool, but I prefer Football. Because Football to me is as much about strategy as it is about action. I've been Down Under and watched both under the tutelage of some Australians and really gained an appreciation for it. But the American game appeals to me more, what with its endless permutations of strategy and the beauty of the forward pass. But if you prefer these two sports to football, then knock yourself out. More power to you. I'm not going to convince you otherwise.
Cricket? I like the grace and leisurely pace of it. But the American in me makes me want to get up after about two hours and say, "Okay. That's nice. Can we speed this thing up?" So, in that sense, I prefer the finite nature of baseball as opposed to cricket. But if you prefer cricket to baseball, then that's all right to me.
I mean, if you're going to espouse a sport, hell, let's try lacrosse. It's way faster than American football, has a lot more scoring than soccer, has a much more open field and fluid action than rugby and Australian rules football, has a lot more hitting than basketball, hockey, and baseball -- and a crapload more than golf. What's more, the players carry around these big honking sticks and get to whack each other with the things. What guy could possibly dislike a sport like that? Okay, so there. What the hell is wrong with the world's sports fans because they aren't all breathlessly tuned into lacrosse games?
There. Do you understand my point now? And can we shut the hell up about it already? Because, aside from speculating about how many angels dance on the head of a pin, trying to prove the superiority of one sport over another has to be the dumbest and most tedious argument of all time.

You don't associate the word "hooligan" with any American sports.
