Missouri State is a very good school and Springfield is a great city.
As for what to do in Missouri, that depends on what you are interested in and how much money you want to spend. I enjoy outdoor activities here - hunting, fishing, hiking, shooting sports, boating, canoeing, etc. If you can go to a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Game or a Kansas City Chiefs football game you will get to see American sporting events at their best (and craziest). You should go to Branson for a show and shopping at the Branson Landing. There are many good golf courses all over the State.
You should try some of Springfield's fine dining places so you can tell the folks back home that not all American food is inferior to French food.
You should go to the Brown Derby International Wine Center to find good fromage when you start missing that. Give me more specific examples of what you are interested in and I will try to come up with others.
The weather is always changing. We have about 50% sunny days in Winter, about 70% sunny days in Summer and about 60% sunny days in Spring and Fall.

There are several factory outlet malls in Branson and at the Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach. My experience has been mixed with these stores. Some of them occasionally have really good deals. However, many of them are no better than department store prices much of the time.
