I am not looking forward to the winter.
Jan-Mar is brutal.
This is why Syracuse real estate is never going to "take off", thankfully.

To be honest, winters have been pretty mild in the area in recent years. So, even the winter weather aspect isn’t or has been what it was in the past. We’ll see though.

Syracuse winter weather from January to March keeps the homeless population low, keeps crime rates low, keeps home prices affordable and keeps out most superficial people.

Syracuse real estate will take off regardless of the winter weather if climate warming or climate change forces industry and people to Migrate to the Great Lakes region.

And if the winter weather becomes much less cold and snowy due to climate change, then real estate will really take off since Syracuse is so close to the Adirondacks, the east coast cities, Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes along with access to an unlimited water supply of the Great Lakes.

Its a nice place to live, but the real estate is not going to boom and bust like warmer climates.

The taxes are what destroy investments as well.

I guess with a good tax attorney and lawyers, you can accomplish a lot with real estate investment in CNY. But, for the average one or two house home buyer, there is no way you can tell me that investing in CNY is better than other, more vibrant cities. Or are you even trying to convince me of that?

Times are changing. Weather extremes like heat waves, water shortages, threat of a world war, high home prices, extreme homelessness, extreme inner city crime, insurance companies pulling out of natural disaster prone regions like Florida and California and the media focus on climate change.

Many people are starting to realize with the help of the mass media that it isn't very smart to live in a city that has a yearly threat of major natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires.

All of sudden Upstate NY doesn't seem as terrible when the major cons are shoveling snow for a few months and not sun bathing during the winter.

My favorite part of CNY is NO TRAFFIC because it reduces stress. Green Lakes is a close second. And then you have Syracuse University, a school I graduated from, so I get plenty of perks from that.

I appreciate your enthusiasm.

You are a smart poster and its good too see people that realize the greatness of CNY.
