That is correct. Only place in US to swim with Manatees, legally, is Crystal River, FL.

You said that Canberra, Ottawa and Zurich only have the highest scores, but Tampa doesn't even have the highest score in the U.S. And no, Tampa doesn't have a higher score than Denver. And yes, maybe the score was just for the city of Tampa, but "TB" doesn't equal the City of Tampa.

He can't think of the significance, it's an endangered species. Only other place they can be found are in Indonesia and Australia (I think they are called Dugongs there).

People with money don't shovel and get the best of both worlds - summer up North and winters down South.
That way they avoid the hell that is summer in Florida ...

Well, Tampa was not even in the overall rankings chart, that's why.

Huh?

Denver, CO, United States 194.06

Tampa, FL, United States 200.56

No way Cleveland (affected severely by the recession), Buffalo (snow for much of the year), St Louis(one of the highest crime rates) have better QOL than Tampa...

Tampa Bay has plenty of towns that would score higher than the city of Tampa on QOL. Add those to Tampa..you get the idea.

Aha..people with money!! I see. And is that the majority of people?

No need to avoid the summer. They can always swim with manatees at 72F water(it's refreshing).

Good thing that QOL of life has more to do with it than the individual factors you mention. Add the intangibles like familarity, friends, family, general civility, and helpfulness of people and then come talk to us. The good news is folks from any of the cities can come vacation when their weather gets a little adverse.

I'm sure that's a daily pastime ... enjoy yourself outside today with a heat index of 104 - in Chicago, the heat index is 79 today. Think I'd rather be up there at a Cubs game ...

Same with anyone in FL(they can vacation up north to avoid the summer).

Btw, QOL is subjective. What matters to you does not matter to someone else.

And I know people with homes in both places ... no need to compare but it makes for interesting discourse on C-D.
