Hi Everyone,
I have been on a web site looking for houses in the Sequatchie Area-Dunlap Area. Has anyone out there been to that area or live in that area? My husband and I are planning a trip to TN in April. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what areas to visit as I only can spare 5 days from work for this vacation. We are going to the Chattanooga area and probably the Knoxville area to look at real estate. I like the mountains , but dont need to live on one. I do want shopping near by, so I really dont want to be in the sticks, but I dont want to be in a city. We only want to spend about 125,000 to 150,000 for a home. Any feed back would help.

Hey Kim. Do you have children? Are schools a factor? What kind of job/s are you looking for? When you say "near a city" do you mean somewhere with a Walmart or something larger? I am sure we can help you out. There are quite a few of us here familiar w/Seq Co.

How nearby do you want your shopping? Dunlap / Sequatchie County is beautiful, but it's pretty isolated. There are very few jobs there, and the drive to Chattanooga is long (but pretty).

If you like that kind of terrain and like the Chattanooga area, you might consider Soddy-Daisy. Soddy-Daisy is on a lake, it's at the foot of the same mountain as Dunlap but on the other side. It's just a few minutes from downtown Chattanooga. And since Chattanooga isn't booming like Knoxville or Nashville, there's very little urban sprawl around there. You can live in Soddy-Daisy and still feel like you're out in the sticks even though you're just 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.

Have you looked at the Tri-Cities? Great schools and hospitals. Lots of shopping and great views of the mountains, short drive to get into them for tails and such. Several water ways around. There are many houses on the market right now (even in winter which is typically slow) that are 3/2's with 1 or 2 car garages 3/4 or an acer or so under 150k
Just a thought....I always suggest this area as we LOVE living here.

I have no children, so schools are not a factor. I am a bookkeeper, my husband is in sales but he will be retiring soon. Near a city means being able to go to a mall, movies, typical things people like to do. I just dont want a city like New york City. I hope this helps.

Johnson City is in the Tri Cities is'nt it? I did look at some of the houses on the web sites for that area. I am just so confused as to where to go. We just have to get in our car and look at all the places. I have a bad habit of falling in love with all the places I see, no matter where I go I want to live there!!!, but this will be the last time we move, so this will have to be just what we want. I just dont know where to start.

My husband knows someone in Hixson, and I have looked at the Soddy- Daisy area on the web sites. I have read in the forum that Chattanooga is a very pretty city. We are going there on our trip.

I just checked and there doesn't seem to be much in Sequatchie County in Middle TN, not sure where you would search for East TN, I'm sure someone else on the board would know.
