As the Dallas Mavs play for the NBA Championship albeit as underdogs, its nice to reflect with this Indiana University Grad has done for the Dallas area and Texas.

He's put together an outstanding team of good players -not the headline grabbing thugs that many other teams hame. He doesn't change the roster every year so the fans can built loyalties and vice versa.

Jason Kidd at 38 remains perhaps the smartest NBA player, He was a winner at New Jersey, a team that went to hell after he left. Kidd suffered through an abusive marriage and since getting rid of her has blossomed. Even at Cal-Berkeley his now ex was famous for attending games and hunting for any females fans who were cheering Jason too loudly and get in their face.

Dirk has been a steady star but everyone knows about him.

Miami will be tough -they have bought the best players but Dallas will give them a fight.

Making the NBA Finals is an accomplishment, but don't expect an outpouring of love for the Mavs from across the state. Mark Cuban has offended fans of San Antonio to the point that many of them root against him AND his team. Considering that LeBron James is showy and whiny and the exact opposite of the kind of player that Spurs fans like, there will likely be a lot of TVs in South Central Texas tuned to whatever else is on TV besides the NBA Finals.

I like many of the Mavericks players and will certainly be rooting for them in the finals. However, I can't stand Mark Cuban. IMO, Cuban is the most obnoxious, disrespectful, low class owner of any professional sports franchise that I can think of in the entire country.

Jason Kidd has eyes in the back of his head. He was partly responsibly (and his father) for getting an outstanding coach fired at UCB, who took them to The Dance for the first time in 40 year+/-. It's good to see the older guys doing well.

I agree! I forgot to mention above that Kidd is one of my favorite players on the team.

I hate Mark Cuban - but, I know the players have worked hard and hope they win.

Khunt how was Kidd responsible for getting an outstanding coach fired at Cal? Bozeman was fired because he offered illegal incentives to players who later starred for other teams ( Jelani Gardner) and a few who went pro. Bozeman admitted he was wrong and is now head coach for Maryland Eastern Shore.

Mark Cuban gives me heartburn. His behavior is appalling.
