I wouldn't even call the population in Austin socially liberal. Cultish yes.

Dallas is the total and complete star of Texas. It mops the floor with every other city. Ok, not Houston, but every other major city in the state.

No, the poster meant Continental. Continental will remain Continental for at least two years (if everything is approved upon).

Wait say what?

The part where I said that the word "United" will look hideous next to the Continental logo on planes?

Or, the part where I said Continental is no more?

For the first one, I said it because I personally do think that the word United next to the Continental logo looks horrendous, so I am in agreement with my parents there.

For the second one, because the merger has been officially announced, and they will soon become the same company in given time.

Both were no match against Delta and American Airlines, and were probably going to go bankrupt and dissolve soon, so they decided to merge and become the largest airline in America, and save themselves from dying out.

Not quite. But both Continental and United have made multiple trips through Chapter 11 BK. They would be ok, but with the airlines consolidating, it will drive up fares. That will be good for the industry. United and Continental merged to create a super airline. But they would have been relatively ok without it.
