I live in the Killeen/Ft Hood area and I go back and forth to Austin on the weekends. The area in between looks pretty redneck to me but it's not completely out in the middle of nowhere.

One requirement it it must be safe and preferably good weather and not many illegals.. where is this place found?
this lifestyle can pretty much be found all over texas, but the closer you are to the big cities, usually the less "texan" it will be

i believe east texas has the least amount of illegals in the state, unless youre in the larger towns (tyler, nacogdoches, lufkin). but blacks are still the most populous minority. and this region definitely has a good amount of the things you're looking for, except that it's more southern than texan (less bbq steak and tacos, more pork and grits)

Try College Station. They're rich enough that they exclude poor people, but everyone thinks their a cowboy and all of the bars focus on country music and line dancing. Okay...most of the bars.

Pickup trucks, cowboy boots, rednecks, racism, and giant hats. If you like it, come dig it. It's really kind of fake, but if it's what you're looking for...

i might be wrong, but to be honest, you kind of sound like someone who's moved to the area recently, is fed up with it, and just looking for an excuse to vent. a&m student, i'm betting.

college station is not really what the op would be looking for as it is overwhelmingly a college town. bryan might be an option though
