If you spill over into my seat, I'm calling a FA and making sure I'm either moved or that person is. I paid for my seat and I'm not sharing.

I had a guy try to actually take my bulkhead seat one time. He would not get out of my seat. I had the FO escort him off the plane.

Yes. Or maybe a plane just for them. And parents should get their own planes too...

Unfortunately we don't pay the same for airline seats, nor do we get the same. Seat-pricing is notoriously variable, inscrutable and frustrating. Quite often a passenger might pay X for a seat in Economy, while another passenger would pay 2X for the seat behind him/her... essentially the same seat, double the price. I might fly just a little more than the other guy, scoring a free upgrade to first-class, while he remains mired in Economy. Also, if a "large" (lovely politically-correct euphemism, is it not?) passenger spills into an adjacent seat, then he/she is effectively getting "more". And if I happen to check in an hour earlier than the other guy, ending up with an aisle seat while he gets the middle-seat, effectively I also get "more" (that is, a better seat) while possibly paying the same price - or maybe even less.

My preference would be to charge passengers by the pound: that includes their persons and their luggage.

That's not true on any of the legacy airlines, Southwest or JetBlue.

Maybe if airlines had more properly sized and spaced seating it wouldn't be an issue!

As a 140 pound guy, I say the already do as I never find it crowded; but a 300 pound man would disagree . Who should the airlinec listen too?

Back in the old days, seats are much bigger, but fare also much less affordable, are you willing to pay for that?

If your body protrudes into the next seat to the extent where you are encroaching on someone else's personal space, then I say yes.

Now that that's clear, on to your question. Should larger people buy two seats? Yes. Will they? Not 100% of the time (for reasons which vary from 'I'm flying for work and my company will only pay for one seat," to "too cheap to buy two," to "haven't flown before and honestly didn't know how narrow the seats are."). So what's the purpose of whining about it? Your comfort is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Either speak up before the flight pulls away from the gate, or suffer in silence, or book first class seats. Your choice. But stop pretending that you have no responsibility for dealing with this problem, because it is in fact YOUR problem. Why should anyone else care more about your comfort than you do?
Correction, my comfort (to a certain degree) is the responsibility of the airline, hence airlines are making nicer seats, giving more legroom, ect ect. What am I to do when its a full flight, as so many are no a days? No one else wants to sit next to a large person that takes up 1/4 of the seat you payed for. Sitting next to a person that has a crying baby, or a person that talks to their friend the whole flight, ect, that is something headphones can drown out, sitting next to a large person invading your space you paid for is something that IS the airlines problem. I dont want anyone else to care about my comfort. However, when I pay for something a certain concern for its customers comfort comes with the resposability of operating an airline.
You do have a choice of a "non cattle" experience. Drive to your destination.
(I changed your red font because it is hard to read when the words are one very long paragraph and it is annoying.

There is no guarantee Southwest will refund the second seat after the flight. They only refund the second seat if the flight is not completely full. Having said that, I have only flown Southwest twice. Both times I purchased a second seat as I was not in the mood to sit skinny. Both times there ended up being a few empty seats and I got refunded. Using Southwest's guidelines I an not considered a person of size. But what the heck, if the plane is completely full I can either drop the armrest and give up the second seat for a refund or kick back, relax and enjoy as close as one can get to flying first class on Southwest.

I'm already uncomfortable flying because I have back problems, especially when I sit for a long period of time.

When I book a flight, I'm paying for MY seat, not for half a seat when an obese person spills into it.
I think they should have to pay another half the price extra for the extra seat they take up.
