The train ride from London to Edinburgh is actually really nice. You can also take the longer Edinburgh sleeper, if you want to save some daylight hours. It's more expensive, but also saves you a night's hotel cost.
I would like to visit Paris and London but would like do a trio trip. Any suggestions on another location to add? Interested in art, food, history, theater and exploring on foot.
I did Amsterdam, Paris, and London two years ago. Excellent city for exploring on foot.

Also Amsterdam--Van Gogh, and, one of the best veggie burgers and tomato soup I ever had at the food truck on the museumplein between Van Gogh and the Rijksmuseum.

Nice! How long did you spend in each location? I hope I can swing 3 weeks for total trip. I never really thought about considering Amsterdam but it sounds like it could work!

Why restrict yourself to major cities? Get a rental car and visit the Loire valley or Normandy, for example. Or, take the TGV to Strasbourg, a beautiful mid-sized city.
Personally, I find major cities have a certain sameness everywhere. Guess there's only so many ways to build a city. The differences lie in the countryside and smaller cities. Yes, there are exceptions, but they're rapidly disappearing. Take Beijing. On my first visit in 2006, the hutongs were fascinating. Visiting twice in the past few years, They were almost completely gone, replaced by high-rises just like you'd find anywhere else. (yes, the Forbidden City and my favorite, Garden of Heaven, are still there.)
Agree. Although many cities have a lot of attractions.
After digging around, I think Strasbourg and Colmar are on the list! Both seem very cute and quaint!
