Oakland's gentrification has supposedly been going on for years. Homicides this century have not changed except for the last 3 months. I bet it'll pick up.

And unless they've played with the robbery stats or something, robberies are 2 times more frequent now than they were 15 years ago. As are burglaries. Even auto thefts are unchanged.

The only statistic that is really lower now than 2001 is arson.

Just saying. Maybe this year is a turning point. But statistically, it doesn't look like that city's improved in the 21st century.

In fact, upon further investigation, Oakland just had 5 homicides in a week (3/18-3/25). In a week they nearly doubled their YTD.

It's still lower but that certainly closed the gap and there is plenty of time to make it up. It's only what, 7 behind last year?

I can't look up the exact statistics because I can't load the page right now for some reason.
