It's a shame that at the very time developers had promising projects for Tucson, the economy tanked. If the economy was as strong as it was 5 years these projects would still be in the works.

The Shops at Tangerine isn't going to be constructed until the Twin Peaks interchange on the 10 is constructed. ADOT was supposed to start construction a couple months ago, but is running late. The interchange isn't expected to be fully operational until late next year, meaning the Shops at Tangerine won't even start construction until 2010, at the earliest. Right now store that is probable in that area is SuperTarget. Tucson is in desperate need of higher end stores such as Nordstrom and/or Neiman Marcus, maybe even a Saks Fifth Avenue.

The only new major stores possibly entering the Tucson market are the Cheesecake Factory and REI at the Tucson Mall. The Target at Roger and Oracle is going to be closed in February, reconstructed, and will reopen in October as a SuperTarget.

And Sephora, Sephora! It should be open by now according to the plans, but I haven't visited yet. Come to think of it, haven't seen anything about it in the paper, either. Hope we didn't part with that, too...

Yep this is definitely open now. Went shopping with the wife yesterday and got sucked into this store with her. As soon as I heard the words "fabulous", "luscious", and "stunning" from a store worker in the same sentence my eyes glazed over and I went into man-shopping cruise control (follow and stand, wait, repeat) until the wife was done.
