San Diego's housing cost will likely to continue dropping for a bit, depends on the economy, gas prices, etc... So now isn't a bad time to move from here.
ShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHH!

I am closer to athiest but my wife is definately christian.

Despite being the bible belt, u can avoid easily the extremists easily.
Tulsa is actually a less bigotted town than most of CA.

Utah is much more religious than Tulsa.
We have the best and the worst here.

Best: We have:
'Church on the Move' somewhat big but very open church.
'Billy Joe Daughtery' Very good preacher and very anti extremists.
Several others. Even open churchs for agnostics who still want fellowship
on spirtual searchs that dont fit any faith.

Bad:
Oral & RIchard Roberts - Ministry, not the college ORU.
Tilton (Texas & OK) - one of the worst evils to me.
Any other preacher who preachs need for $$ over need for god.

Tulsa is still one of the best places 'cost of living' wise.

Personally, if I could find my kind of work, I wouldnt even consider moving.

My only reason to move from Tulsa will be job related only.

I have no interest in moving to more expensive or 'too busy' a town.

I thought that San Diego was suffering from the housing bubble effects and still recovering from the last-year's fires (at least the burned-out areas).

Many people here in California look at California as being 'location, location, location.' You're right that many in CA are bigoted. They're also downright rude and just unhelpful to their neighbors. I ride BART to work each day. Try getting a seat when you're seven or eight months' pregnant. The Sureno gangs have moved from from the Southern California all the way up the coast.

IMO, the only thing we have going is our weather. We have beaches, but I hate the beach. Sand between toes is nasty. I shudder to think about all of the things you can step on at the beach (jellyfish!). Give me a pool any day. The Tahoe area has become totally commercialized, and we're destroying the lake. They discharge wastewater effluent off the coast in Southern California (like San Diego beaches), so who wants to swim there?

The best parts of California are the Monterey Bay and north along Highway 1. Those areas are the only areas worth seeing anymore. And, of course, Disneyland.

San Diego's weather is truly the best thing (IMO) about San Diego. They also have the mountains to the West. I really never was into the beach. I have a friend that lives there and the cost of living is phenomenally high though.

Here.. I'll give you a snapshot of my life.

I bought and sold a couple of houses in the boom.. Got out on top and rented since. The market was showing weak signs and I wasnt going to be a sucker.

My rent is 2700 a month for a 1800sq condo on the beach with no ocean view. (Which is a STEAL!) The unit with the view above me sold for 750k in a matter of a couple weeks. My part of the complex is not ocean front, those are 1.5M

The cheapest single family residents here is 750k. If I want a home inland I can buy spend 500k and not get 2k feet.

So, at 150k+ a year (two jobs + wife) we still have to bust ass to make a $3500 base payment plus property tax, upkeep, cars and so on.. AND the Tulsa market is GOING UP! Not alot.. but enough to get my attention.

Not to mention that gas is $5 a gallon or close to it (thanks goodness I work from home)

The question is. How much is the weather worth?

Now.. Go to South Tulsa, Spend 300k or less, get a 3k foot home, $1500+ payment and make the same money..

And come on, my Sooners are only a 90mile or so drive.

I would be there right now.. But the wife is having a hard time letting go of California. We need to make some decision soon.. School starts in Augest.
