Viewership was down last season. It may go up for the first show or two, just because of the new judges -- but I'll bet that, by the last show of this season, it drops down even further than last season.
Keith Urban is a great singer/ musician, so I think he'll make good choices. I just hope he won't be too nice, he looks like a really nice guy.
I think it's logical they chose to have a judge coming from country music, Idol always has country candidates and finalists, and many Idol finalists who have been successful in that genre, even singers who were not necessarily country at first signed contracts for country albums (Dany Gokey or Casey James come to my mind)
