I read the books long before I watched Season 1. The books are long and I'm not a fast reader. But the series on HBO seems to drag on and on. I thought we would be to wedding by now...... Not complaining, but I wish they would do two hour episodes and cover more ground........ Tonight's episode did not seem to advance the plot, IMHO.

I wish these episodes were two hours long too.

I think the wedding might be next week.

I think the series is going slow because the writer of the books only puts one out every five years or so. This episode developed characters (like Arya), showed us where Jaime now stands in the scheme of things (he should've taken his father's offer) and introduced the prince who intends to take his revenge.

This episode seemed way too short.

I agree, good establishing episode--we have to walk before we can fly! Nikolaj cleans up good, doesn't he?

It so did! I looked up at the clock and couldn't believe it was already 40 minutes into the episode!

From the previews, looks like another establishing ep next week too. Lots of people doing things right now.

Who's sword was that Lannister was having melted down? Was it Ned Starck's?

Correct, and it's Tywin Lannister

I thought they did a good job of setting the stage. They need to put all the pieces in place, and then the story moves forward. They did, and I enjoyed it.

It could always be longer--it's Game of Thrones!

They melted ICE, Ned Stark's family sword. They made it into two swords. But I think the "Two Swords" in the title refers to this one, and Arya's Needle.

It's good to have the series back but I agree it didn't advantage the story enough. It was good but at this rate they're going to need new actors! The episodes could stand being 90mins rather than 60mins. I've read the books so know the story, etc. So I'll admit I forgot where the series ended and where my memory of the books began. lol It was bit confusing there for a few minutes.
