In 2010, the GOP approved the deal helping the unemployed.

In 2014 Obamacare will force unemployed people and the working poor to pay for a mandatory health bill. Who wants that?

Me, If there is one thing I have found from being unemployed and working contract now is Healthcare for individuals sucks, I'm paying a high premium for ridiculous high deductibles right now just to have some protection, If I stay in the same situation like I am in now I'm all for pools where I can get the same options for the same price as companies are giving their employees!

If someone is unemployed and healthy why would they want to pay a extra bill? If you have no health issues than the little money you get from UC can go toward food and bills. Not a medical bill that you don't need.

I believe in paying for things I need not that I SHOULD HAVE

I suppose you could go bankrupt if you spend more then one night in the hospital for any reason what so ever! Try spending a week, it will only cost you 30k at the low end, that is if you don't need anything more then a bed!

But why even think like that when you have no job? Just focus on maintaining good health and work with the little money you do have until you are working. UC is already small enough with rising rent, cable, and internet and now someone should pay for a medical bill they don't need?

People should have the choice to take that risk, with a minor change we need. Like student loans, IMO medical debt should not be dischargeable in bankruptcy, nor carry a statute of limitations for collection. Those who opt not to purchase insurance should be required as condition of not facing the tax penalty the right to sign a waiver affirming non-dischargeable nature and no statute of limitations as shown above.
