People should have the choice to take that risk, with a minor change we need. Like student loans, IMO medical debt should not be dischargeable in bankruptcy, nor carry a statute of limitations for collection. Those who opt not to purchase insurance should be required as condition of not facing the tax penalty the right to sign a waiver affirming non-dischargeable nature and no statute of limitations as shown above.
Thank you. Obamacare is the stupidest thing I ever heard of in my life.

That would never work, they would never get their money as the debt for hospital bills are even worse then student loans although those are catching up as well, You don't have to sign anything, you don't have to get insurance you just have to pay the tax for not having it which is much lower then paying the premiums.

You wont be saying that when your in the hospital with a million dollar debt to pay because you chose not to have healthcare! But you will just go bankrupt and make us all pay for it anyways!

I don't know the exact numbers but the first few years you don't have it the tax is not much at all, it goes up though the longer you don't have it but it is still less then the premiums you would pay for the whole year!

So a few who took the risk LOST. They would have a lifetime to pay if need be.
“Individuals who cannot afford coverage”: If an employer offers coverage that would cost the employee more than 8 percent of his or her household income (for self-only coverage) that individual is exempt from the tax.
Wrong-it starts at $695 and goes UP indexed to inflation.
Maybe Michelle will pay it, since TVSG lives in a city gaga over Obama.
Nope not for several years!
Actually 4 mores years! 2016
And way less then it would cost to pay the premiums!
