Life in Eagle Mountain?
The real estate is just so cheap! Wondered how life is in Eagle Mountain? Good quality? We're from Tucson. Thanks!

My sister-in-law lives in a condo near the ranches. She likes it, although it is a bit far away from everything.

How *far* is *far* ?
And what constitutes *everything* ?
5 minutes up the road, and you are at a crossroad section that has whatever you need.
If you do not find it you probably do not need it ....
If you speak about the city of Eagle Mountain, than maybe 10 minutes tops ???

If all you need is Walmart, a gas station and a couple of fast food places then yea, I guess that's true.
If you want culture or a nice place to eat then you would be living on the edge of oblivion.

What was all the fuss about when Eagle Mountain was going through Mayors at such a fast pace? Also, I would check with all of the school zone stuff to see what may be going on with the property tax increase on that side of the valley!!
My best friend from college does the weather on one of the TV channels in Tucson-Chuck George-he loves Tucson!

My concern with Eagle Mountain is that people are lured in by the amount of home you get for the money, with no thought that they may not need that much home, nor want to heat and maintain that much space, have to eventually replace that much roof, re-side that much square footage of siding.
And when the economy eventually starts firing on all cylinders and happy days are here again, does anyone stop to wonder what will happen to the taxes on those homes?
But with ambition, good planning (and a backup plan) master budgeting and a do it yourself "Can Do" attitude the future waters should stay calm, especially if the whole family pitches in with the day it needs a new roof, kids should be raised by then anyway....LOL....

No worries
I lived in Eagle Mountain (The Ranches) for several years. I now live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but would love to move back to the Ranches if able to through employment in Utah.
People may like the size of home they get in Eagle Mountain, but I do not think it is a bad thing at all. There isn't any more problem with people buying a large house in Eagle Mountain as there is other places, such as Tooele, Payson or Lehi.
I am not sure if the poster "ShouldIMoveorStayPut" has ever lived in Utah or know about the area, but re-roofing a house or re-siding one is not a concern to homeowners in Utah. You may need to re-roof a Utah home once every 30 years and possibly never re-side a home with vinyl siding or stucco. If you want to worry about roofing, then move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Average roof here last 10 years (damage from rain, ice, hail and wind). However, most homes have brick exteriors, so siding is not an issue, but structural problems with the brick may be an issue.
