Thank you hml1976! It Certainly does. It is so difficult making a 'not necessary' move! Ultimately, we want the best for our children and it can be hard to take that leap into the unknown... But I think we likely will take the leap if all goes according to plan!

Hockinson or Battle Ground is worth a look as well, imo.

The Vanc area as a whole is generally quite nice with just a few less desirable pockets, and prices are generally cheaper than the OR side of the river, so if you focus on finding schools that meet your needs, you can probably make the housing work as well.

And with what you'd save vs. housing in the DC metro area, you could probably send all your kids to private school anyway

Thread packed with information!

We are also moving up from Northern California to Camas within the next 60 days, also a 2 stage move.

Does anyone have a good resource for rental listings in Camas (Dorothy Fox/Grass Valley) outside of Craigslist?

We're really looking for a 3/2 with a bit of space for a year or so.

Thanks

Check on Zillow, there are several homes listed for rent. Welcome!

Realtor sites: Trulia, Zillow
Others: Padmapper

I'd use padmapper over craigslist, since it incorporates data from CL and a few other providers (rent.com, etc.) and puts them in a map interface with sliders.

Those are the 3 I use primarily. In another portland thread someone mentioned 'hot pads' but I've never used it.

Thanks - the padmapper looks like a good tool but there doesn't appear to be a lot in Camas to rent - hmmmmm

That's pretty inexpensive for camas, could be hard. I would look in the Talbitzer homes community near Grass Valley school. These are excellent schools assuming that's a factor for you.

Beautiful 3 Bedroom Townhome in Camas for Lease-3309 NW 46th Ave

Even if this one isn't the right one for you that community has had a lot of rentals over the last few years. There are several town homes that are empty and owned by the developer so they may be available to rent as well.

Camas is much smaller housing base, and significant parts of it seem geared toward higher-end housing. Where I work, quite a few of the execs live in Camas.

$1600 may seem like a lot, but it's not a ton in this market. In Camas I'm not sure you will have much luck getting a SFH at that price point - though you could find an apt/condo for a bit less.

You'll find more options at that price in Vancouver (in part just b/c Vancouver has a larger market) and then take the short commute out.

[Edit - though if you were planning to be here a while, you could buy a property in Camas - like 1402 NW 30th Ave for under 1500 if you had 20% down]
