Based on your criteria, I would say "no"; Vermont is fairly Democratic ( in federal elections), and is quite snowy and cold during the winter months, among other things..

No gay bars left in Burlington that I know of.

People are quite nice bu you may have to deal with a lot of college students.

I like it. Shows he/she is capable of independent thinking. Too many people join the liberal or conservative side and automatically adopt all of the views of the "team". Like Robots, the politicians don't even have to please the voters.

Is there a large gay male population in Burlington?
I get the feeling the majority of gays in Burlington are lesbians. Obviously I can't know that.

Well I mean, I am currently living in CT and it's also a democratic state, but probably not as much as VT. Here, it's about a 60-40 split. VT seems to be more like 70-30.

The republicans in CT are different from the republicans in VT. The VT republicans are libertarian, leave their money alone and let them do as they please and they're happy. The CT republicans are mostly neo-cons. I spent 23 years in CT. There's a reason not too many republicans make it to major public office (though Lieberman somehow did).

Anyway, you should be fine as long as you can deal with long winters.

This was my experience when I lived there. I would say 60-40 %.

Alright well thanks everyone for your input! It seems that VT is too liberal for me and I won't be accepted, so I guess I'll stay in CT. Thanks again!

This is too funny. I'm conservative native with Republican leanings. I've never felt unwelcome anywhere in VT. You'll be fine - VT is the land of tolerance, especially if you are gay. Part of the orginal attraction to all these liberals in the first place was because VT was home to all sorts of "mind your own business" conservatives.

Personally, though, if you are used to/want high incomes or can't come with a packet of money or income from another place, I wouldn't bother. Job opportunties are thin on the ground and many of the young natives are leaving for that reason. Throw in the COL of living and it's hard to enjoy all that beautiful scenery if you are working 2 jobs just to make the rent.
