Haha, SO TRUE! I am from Northern VA, so I know all about it. Norva *was* a nice place up until about...10-15 years ago when all the Yankees and illegals started invading. I actually moved to the FL panhandle to escape the craphole that Norva has become, which sucks since my family has been in VA since the mid-1600s and I loved my home state. I hate what it has become though, it's truly heartbreaking and it kills me that I had to leave, but I just couldn't take it any more!

And I think Marylanders are just weird. Southern MD is OK and the Eastern Shore is kinda nice, but up by PA (like Cumberland, etc) is full of the creepiest, most freaky meth-head-looking people I've ever seen in my life! It's just a different state and a different mindset that I don't really relate to, but I don't hate them. I DO hate their laws though, I always call MD "The Socialist State of MD" because their laws are so weird. I remember living in Arlington and seeing tons of illegals who lived there with MD plates on their cars because they allow illegals to get licenses there, which unfortunately didn't KEEP them there...to VA's detriment. So I hate that aspect, but the people are OK for the most part.

The south seems more bitter for one reason that I can see: too many yanks are moving in with their big retirement pensions that are adjusted to their cost of living and raising the cost of land and housing. Many kids in parts of VA can't get out and make it on that $10-$13 an hour they're getting paid. They see the northern transplants set up in nice houses that used to be much cheaper and realize what's going on. This is nothing against you, as I like the tone of your post and you seem nice, but I know some people do feel this way. I ran across a New York transplant in Nelson County that told me to ask permission before fishing on the Tye River! He was arrogant enough to think he owned the river and could keep me from wading it. I was in the water! He did not possess the courtesy to even inquire what the law was pertaining to the water running in front of his house. I think that kind of attitude has something to do with it as well.

Yep, see here's the typical mindset of half the Virginians I come across, exactly how I described it in my 1st post on pg7 . Figures that the only parts of Maryland that are "nice" are the only ones that resemble Virginia.
