lol thanks for the productive comment, appreciate it.

I love the attitude of some of the people on this forum acting as if they have never sped before, Its hilarious. I mean honestly if you arent going to add anything productive to the thread why comment at all? I just asked for someone familiar with VA reckless driving incidents to help me out since im stationed in Germany and spend every other year in the middle east defending your right to post stupid comments....never said what I did was ok, just asked a question....thanks for the help tho.

Thanks for serving our country. I really appreciate it.
However, that does not give you the right to break the law.

I have a lawyer since I'm back in Iraq and obviously wont be able to make it back for my court date. Ive been going back and forth between Germany and Iraq for the last few years, and after doing some reading about the crazy penalties im really worried about this reckless charge. My question I guess would be how difficult will it be for my lawyer to get it reduced to a speeding ticket? This is my first offense of any kind.

BTW i realize my actions were wrong because I was in VA and not on the autobahn, but for you guys who constantly say how dangerous it is, and how you were using your car as a weapon "I dont want you killing me" ....really? I cruise in Germany well over 120mph on a regualr basis and its not a big deal. So while I realize I shoudnt have been going that fast in the states to call me, driving my car (which is more than capable of much faster speeds than 93) reckless is kind of humorous. Not contesting the fact that it was wrong because of where I was, just saying....lighten up a little bit on the speeders, to give someone a criminal record cuz Im driving my car too fast is the definition of insanity.
I'm pretty confident since this is your offense your lawyer will be able to get it reduced and not be reckless. The fine is high but not sure of the exact amount. The one problem though is that Va requires a driving course as part of the reduction. I believe they give you a couple of months to complete it.

Default Reckless Driving in VA. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

I also got a reckless driving ticket for driving on 82/55 on route 28. I have a clean driving record except for 1 minor speeding ticket in last 1 year. Should I hire a lawyer? I cannot afford to pay the lawyer fee and high court fines. I have a very clean criminal and credit history and want to maintain the same. I want to defend myself from getting a criminal conviction and want to get out of this charge with minimal damage. Please help.

I was hoping to hear from someone who has been to court in the last 6 months for a similar charge...w/o a lawyer. Not really worried about insurance costs but don't want the "misdomeanor" on my record, reckless driving WILL take away my work vehicle.

It's amazing to see all the stones that are cast on this site. We all know that the difference between those who have gotten tickets and those who haven't (in recent times) is that YOU haven't gotten caught. Let's stray away from speeding for a second: Maybe you had a small drink before driving a short distance back home (you say you knew your limit) but you made it home, whewwww, maybe you were out over your curfew in your younger days, maybe you talked back to your parents, maybe YOU only went 4 miles over the speed limit. The bottomline is stop throwing stones and help if you can, pray for those who need the help. NO one is perfect, so to the stone casters stop acting like it and hope like hell that your skeletons don't find away of creeping out of the closet.
