Agreed. I was thinking of the area once you cross 210 towards Rivertowne (where you find more rentals/apt complexes). I typically group NH side of OHR with the rest Fort Washington (on that side of 210) In terms of where people shop for groceries, etc.

That's good to hear. Although I can appreciate a smaller footprint for that space, I wonder why they decided to reduce the size from the original plan.

As for Livingston Square or Rivertowne. That is not a surprise. It was mentioned more for wishful thinking than anything. Both of those centers are located off of roadways that are slated for updating/reconfiguring (with 210 occurring over the next decade). That said, I wouldn't see any owner making any significant improvements until those things are done.

Work on Tanger has seemed to slow. Guess that is what happens once the work shifts to more detail oriented issues. I hope they get moving quicker on the roadway.

Also a bit disappointed that no new restaurants of any reputation are being put in along with Tanger. Hate to say it, but most people go shopping and plan in a nice lunch, driving to NH might be too inconvenient for some even though it is pretty close.

BTW, I can't believe how much the event parking is for the horse show...$20!

.

It has slowed but like you I attributed it to them focusing on interior work. I thought the same about the roadways but they have about 35 plus days left and have gotten the curbs and the under-lament down so they are more than halfway there on that. It doesn't take too long to lay asphalt and paint lines. I agree about the proximity of sit-down restaurants near the outlet but they will probably have a shuttle bus going to the restaurants at the harbor. Not the most ideal option but I guess its a way of keeping the outlet connected to the harbor.

Yep event parking is pricey but that has been the standard fare for the shows there. Actually it is that or higher at all of the events in the DC metro area that I have been to. What some people do is park at the harbor and take the shuttle to the event. Parking there will be 11 instead so you save a little bit. I went today and also saw people parking at the kiss and ride across the street. BTW I really enjoyed the show more horsemanship that acrobatics but I was expecting that from what I read prior to the show.

On another topic.....To all posters: If you get the chance go see the movie "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete". Awesome movie.......not for young kids but definitely a must see.....Saw it at the Hoffman and can't stop talking about it...

Hmm....that would be interesting. To me, if I was trying to save money, but trying to go to a restaurant, wouldn't it make more sense for me to park at the outlet mall and take the shuttle, than to pay possibly $11 to park in the garage? They are going to have to come up with a way to address that loophole, otherwise, the parking lot at the outlet mall will always be filled up.

Thank you for the information. It is unlikely that I will make it, but I still like to keep up with what's going on. I may go to one of these meetings at some point as I would like to see what else they are trying to do. I still have my property up there so I have a vested interested in what's going on.

And so it begins lol, I figured they would come out of the woodwork............although they will probably slow down the process, there is no way they will prevent it from being built. Hopefully they realize that.

Community Groups Maneuver to Halt Proposed National Harbor Casino | Washington Informer | African American newspaper, Washington D.C.

With only days before a Maryland commission will begin the process of selecting the location of a proposed casino in Prince George’s County, a consortium of community groups are scrambling to halt plans for a casino at National Harbor.

The group, which includes community members and officials from the Town of Forest Heights, contends that the proposed $800 million National Harbor casino would do little to spur economic development in the surrounding community and would overwhelm roadways in southern Prince George’s County.

Default Town Hall Meeting at Harmony Hall

Meeting began with a discussion on the Kerby Hill Rd Interchange project which is fully funded. They are currently working on the rfp which will he released in August 2014. It is anticipated that the interchange will be completed in 2019. Next was a discussion on the visitor's center at the Tanger Outlet. It wil primarily focus on the history of the Sulurbria Plantation. After that there was a discussion on education and an emphasis on a writing centered curriculum that is currently getting rolled out. The school board representative was appointed by Baker and her name is Beverly Anderson. For the most partmit was an introduction to her role on the Board. They briefly discussed the the police station. It is still scheduled to open in the fall of 2014. As previously mentioned the walmart is still coming but no opening date has been identified. In regards to the casino bids. Nothing new was presented. just a reiteration of what was stated previously.

One interesting tidbit of information that was shared. The stores at Tanger originally extended offers to 850 people to work at the mall but had to rescind the offer for 450 of them because they didn't pass the background investigation/drug tests (smh). They are reviewing additional applications in preparation for the opening.
