The rhetoric that people that like the city should just move there is flawed. Perhaps they live in rural areas because they can't afford the city.

Anyway, I'm willing to bet that for Fort Washington at least, it will become very different than what we currently see it as in less than 10 years. That's a good thing, in my books.

You can't turn rural America into Times Square no matter how hard you wish it to be so. It isn't happening. That is the charm of living in the country. If it's not to one's liking one should move on up to where the action is they so crave.
If wishes were fishes a lot of people could feed a village.

I agree about remodeling all of the closed down storefronts that are scattered all about as there are hundreds of them in locations close by to people. I can't figure out how the majority are churches at some point.
Why does it have to be that extreme? What's wrong with having a store to go to that you can pick up some stuff for the household that's close by? What's wrong with having some place fun where you can take your kids? I don't think anyone is expecting a metropolis, but to be honest southern PG is behind the ball. When I think of a place that has a good balance of having amenities without being overly built out, Bowie comes to mind. They have nice parks, an ice rink, community centers, nice shopping centers, etc. You honestly don't have to leave town to do much unless you choose to. Remember when people like TechlawyerinPG go to neighboring counties to do basic things, that's money out of PG's pocket. The county should give people a reason for keeping that money in the county.

I work in Waldorf/La Plata and I was floored by the amenities within a short drive. Before this job I've never been south of St. Charles. Nothing spectacular but when you live in Southern PG a Panera Bread is welcomed.

I've been keeping an eye on the stock market. In the winter of 2009 when Obama took office the Dow was near 6600 now it's over 15,000. So if an investor invested in the Dow when Obama took office that investor would have doubled their money in 4 years. The Obamacare scare is nothing more than chicken-little "the sky is falling" rhetoric. It won't have any impact on the economy. People have been saying "this country is doomed" for the past 200 years. Yet we are still here. I'm not scared.

The Europeans aren't either.
