PG's rural tier is somewhat protected. go for a drive down near the Patauxant river, thru Croom, . Although Brandywine is beginning to fill in, as are Marlton, Cheltenhamn below Upper Marlboro there are lots of historic areas, parkland, pretty windy roads. There is no bridge crossing the Pax river for miles, so its a hidden gem.

I live in Accokeek, along the Potomac river. We have over 6 miles of riverfront national park and two foundations that have events and trails. there is an awesome boardwalk beloved of birders.

All this within 20 miles of the capitol!

If you've ever visited Mt Vernon in VA, you look across the river to Accokeek. Undeveloped, as is preferred by the keepers of Geo Washington's farm.
