My car will be right on the street getting the business.

I'm with most of you guys on this. I don't see the big deal. I think there was a hurricane on the Coast back in '06 or '07. By the time it made it this far north, it had been downgraded to a tropical storm. But the media here sensationalizes everything. "5.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE LEAVES NATION'S CAPITAL IN RUINS."

I remember when Hurricane Hugo ripped through the Caribbean and the Carolinas back in the 80s. I have family members who lost their homes in that storm. All of Charleston literally looked like it had been stepped on.

By the way, if power goes out, do you think service will be restored in the District before anywhere else?

Probably, but not uptown DC.

I'm hoping the power doesn't go out in PG County. I may need to bbq my meat.

I was the only person in Target buying household items and not Hurricane items.

Not sure how I feel, never been through this. I'm from Tornado country and even then, we were never hit as hard as other states. I bought supplies for about two days, after that, I'll be hit if its worse. My building does have a back up generator, so we'll have limited power other than that, I hope it doesnt hit, cause when you have a dog, you dont want to be stuck inside. YUCK!! LOL!!

I bought some charcoal. If power goes out. I will be grilling. Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast does not lend me to get excited over Category 1&2 storms.

I'm going to "q" as well. I didn't go to the grocery store, because of the possible outages. I'll live off my fridge until.

I went to Target for my essentials:
Mop
lipstick
face cream
cd
trailmix
toilet paper...I was on my last roll

Something happens you won't see a raggedy childfree on the news.

If it's multiple floors, don't park on the bottom, but you're safer in the garage than on the street.
