Hottest on record for my area. US droughts and tornados and hurricanes and flooding...bye-bye summer.

Looking forward to autumn? ...cooling days and crisp nights, changing leaf colors...

I wish I could say that here, September weather is not much different from July weather here I'll have to wait until after Halloween to notice a real difference.....

But yes good riddance to one of the worst summers in the eastern 2/3rds of the country ever.

With this strong cold front now in Oklahoma, it will be interesting to see how soon the 100s will come right back or we may be very will through with them for the rest of the year.

Great to hear, now Australia can have their heat back.

I'm looking forward to the promise of occaisionally-warm evenings.
(yes, that is what mid-summer is here )

The Pacific Northwest, on the other hand, basically had no summer.

Corvallis, OR where I live didn't see its first 90 degree day until August 21. Not since 1954 had we gone so long without one. June and July were well below long term averages and had it not been for the last 11 days of August being well above normal, we would have ended up with one of the coolest summers of record.

The NWS has progged the first 10 to 14 days of September to have temperatures near or past 90 which is also very unusual. If that pans out we will have about three and a half weeks of hot weather. That'll be our "summer".

Beyond the 14th or so is anybody's guess but GFS tells us there will be a major change in our weather pattern and that Aleutian Low which has been giving all of us from B.C. clear down to the mid-Sacramento Valley the finger since March will be back and as bad as ever......

Ha. "Long hot summer" sounds so totally alien to me.

We just had a milder version of winter. A bit milder, enough that the rain isn't snow. That's our "summer".

My summer started in Singapore in January so I've had a pretty long one this year, including the last 4 months in Nice which were quite anemic temperature-wise (around 25-27°C, except for a sweet humid 31-34°C week in August) but very sunny as usual, with around 300 hrs/month or more since May.

Either way, after the longest summer in my life, I'm ABSOLUTELY NOT enjoying the perspective of winter even here in Nice, those 12°C days and 5pm sunsets are gonna be a real pain.

Dear Singapore, I will be back.
